Continuing the adventure

While out of town to a temp job in Green Bay Wi, I took a drive down to Sheboygan, WI to follow up on some family tree leads. I was able to obtain a death certificate from the county clerk's office and a obituary for my great aunt that unfortunately I was never able to meet. On her death certificate I learned that she worked at a cheese box factory. From her obituary I learned that she had 2 sons and a daughter. Each piece of evidence brings new clues to the never ending trail of tracking your family roots. Not only was the trip worth while for the information, but the town of Sheboygan is beautiful as well. I found the experience to be quite pleasant. After spending the day there and driving back to Green Bay I went to the local book store to see what they had for books on Wisconsin history. I find it interesting to match local historical events with my ancestors that lived during those times. It is a way to help you understand why they might have done certain things. It can sometimes give you a clue as to the migration of your family such as the case of the logging industry. If your family were lumberjacks that would explain why they moved every year or so. In my case part of them were loggers and the other part were farmers that followed the lumber company's to clear land and work on large farms.
